The Best Books I Read in 2024

I read over 80 books this year, spanning everything from the history of the guitar to how to slow down and breathe to how to get more done in less time. Toss in a few text books for a new designation and this brain got worked out last year.  I couldn’t narrow it down this time around so I have created categories with the best of the best.
Music:

  • Uncommon People: A captivating journey through rock and roll history, focusing on one defining moment for each year.
  • I Want My MTV: Explores the revolutionary impact of MTV on the music industry.
  • Wild Times: Graham Nash's raw and honest autobiography, a glimpse into the excesses of the 60s and 70s.
  • Nothing But a Good Time: A dive into the flamboyant and often absurd world of 80s hair metal.

Psychology:

  • The New Rulebook: Navigating the post-pandemic world and building a new normal.
  • Look Again: Rediscovering the beauty of everyday life through mindful observation and breaking habits.
  • Mind Hacking: Practical and humorous tips for calming the mind in our hyper-connected world.

Productivity:

  • Slow Productivity: A refreshing approach to work, emphasizing quality over quantity and the importance of a sustainable pace.
  • The Diary of a CEO: Young and ultra-wealthy CEO Steven Bartlett outlines 33 Laws that helped him achieve massive success in multiple industries.
  • Attention Management: Shifting focus from time management to prioritizing what truly matters.

Honourable mention

I was all over the map but I finished ever single book…except one. I won't name it but it was based on critical thinking. Within the first 5 mins of listening,  I knew it was not for me: I like information that is backed up by facts. If you can’t provide evidence for your statements, especially those counter to what the rest of the world believes, they hold little value to me.

What about you? Read any good books lately?
